Its A Magic Slider!
Hi Everyone! Today I have a little something special for you! This is the new SVG file found in the shop! It's a magic slider!!!! This post is to show you how to use the SVG file and put together a cute card. For this sample I used a stamped image. The instructions in this post are to make a 3.5" x 3.5" slider. Since this is an SVG file you can easily resize your slider to suit your crafting needs.
How awesome is that!!!! Alright lets gather up all our supplies to start.
Let the Magic start...
Let's get the show on the road! Below you will see the image of all the items that will create the slider mechanism. The slider SVG is set to cut at 7.433" wide in order to get the 3.5" x 3/5" frame. I used plain white cardstock for this since I wanted to add my own color. You all can use color paper/pattern paper if you like.
Once my magic slider was cut out I used distress ink to bring in a touch of color. I wanted it to look like the sky and grass, so I used Tumbled Glass and Mowed Lawn to create that effect.
Next I stamped my image on the blank inside of the frame with the slider slit to the top. I used a small image for this. (Pssst...that's a SSS image BTW). You can use any image for this, even one of the HCP images (I'll give you the trick a little later.) Color the image in to your liking using Copics or color pencils.
Now, I made my own making tape with a Post-It note, but if you have making tape or paper that works even better. I set this down over my image so that I could blend in the Tumbled Glass and Mowed Lawn to match my card base and the outside of the frame. I added in some more accents by drawing in some grass blades here and there.
So here is the step that you will have many choices to use form.
1) Archival ink your image onto the acetate and heat set it (hot air gun).
2) Heat Emboss the image on the acetate.
3) Use a toner printer to print out the image onto Copier acetate (is using a digital image, HCP preferable *ahem*)
4) Use an inkjet printer to print out the image onto Inject acetate (read parenthesizes of #3)
Now that all your items are ready for assembly, I have made a video for how to assemble here. This is also available at the shop on the product page.
Now that the assembly is complete insert a piece of ribbon or twine through the hole punch to ease the use of the slider. Set the slider onto the card front using double sided tape. As you can see I did a pretty good job with matching the blended areas on my front and slider.
Almost done! just a few more items to add. I decided to use a simple sentiment and made my own little banner flag for this. I used foam tape for this so that it gives the sentiment some height.
Finally I added some Nuvo Drops to the corners of the slider for some simple embellishments.
I hope that you have enjoyed this how to for the Magic Slider SVG from HeartcraftPaper. I hope that you make and share your HCP creations with us on the Facebook group.
