The New Design Space

7/15/2017

Hey All!  I just upgraded to the new Design Space in Beta version.  I thought I should share my thoughts.

There is one big pro for me as a Mac user...I don't need to have flash loaded on the computer and it no longer stalls for flash to catch up!  What that means for me is that there is a lower risk of security breach on my personal device.

The other plus is the fact that I can actually see my own projects in thumbnails!!!!  Before you had to
find it in a list of titles.  So if you forgot what you titled your project, well you were SOL!  (you didn't read that okay?!)

Mostly it still has the same functionality as it's predecessor.  There is a difference is in the layout.  The eye appeal is lovely.  I think it has the same movement as Netflix.  The search functionality is definitely much better!  It keeps your last search rather than refreshing a whole new search.  the layout of your mat functions and tools are different, but  find that it is easier for you mind to read editing while at the top.  Also the loading on the fonts is MUCH more improved.  This has to do with the fact that its web based and fully compatible with IOS and not loading via Flash.  I love that I can now connect via blue tooth with my Mac Book, I no longer have to tether it.  The speed of selection is so much better.  it just  moves quiet nicely with no lagging.  Also the purchases are even easier when you want to buy a cartridge.  You can purchase from within the cartridge itself if you are viewing the items that are included.

I give it a two thumbs up!

What I would like to see?  I would love for the system to be able to make shapes and curves with fonts.  I would love for it to have Smart Guides, just like they do on the phone app.  I would also like to see that it has the options to select a single cut vs. a dashed cut.  This way we can see dashed shapes if that is something we want to do.  It would also be lovely to have a dynamic offset so it can make proportioned shapes with in a shape without having some parts not fitting exactly.

I guess that is my wishlist.  for more details watch the video below.
