"New Orleans is unlike any city in America. Its cultural diversity is woven into the food, the music, the architecture — even the local superstitions. It's a sensory experience on all levels and there's a story lurking around every corner." — Ruta Sepetys
Welcome everyone! I'm so glad to have you join me.
First off I would like to wish you all a Happy Mardi Gras! It's a day of celebration and fun down in New Orleans. While the city has had it fair share of troubles in the last few years, it seems their spirit just continues to survive. Seeing as how they inspire me so much I figured why not take the time to think up some crafts that may just fit the bill.
This is also the time for Carnival down in Brazil. The celebration has African roots which is why the two countries have these similar celebrations. colorful festivals with intricate costumes and wonderful feathered headpieces or masks. This is a great time of year to craft...well anytime actually is, but I think the major colors in play, at least here in New Orleans is to help in promote of a traditional custom.
I love the colors of this festival. A wonderful parade gold, purple, green & white. They may use some other colors in conjunction with, but the base are these three colors.
Below are some digital images I found perfect for this time of year.
I'm sure there are more, but these are some that I found, and some I have been on a design team for in the past. Head on over and take a look. I think you will find something for your craft.
Happy Celebrations to you all!
