Happy Birthday To You!
Hi everyone! Welcome back to HeartcraftPaper! Today it's all about birthdays! Really, I just came up with the idea of making a party hat. A friend of mine recently celebrated her birthday and I wanted to make little something special for her. Unfortunately we are now in lock down and I had to wait to work my craft. Better late than never I guess.
I was truly excited with how my craft came out too. Let's hope you have an opportunity to give this craft a try.
It's Crafting Time!
Happy Birthday - 1.262" W x 0.591" H - Attach this to the oval from the scalloped oval.
Scalloped Oval - 1.794" W x 1.155: H - use Pink Dots print & Cut for the Inner Scalloped Oval, white card stock for the outer Scalloped Oval. Party Hat - 7.479" W x 4.208" H - use Aqua Dots print & Cut. Crown - 1.065: W x 0.498" H - Sue Pink Glitter Paper, and Purple Cradstock.
Begin with the hat. Curve the hat between your fingers so that it makes it easier bring the two sides together. This way you do not create any wrinkles or unwanted creases. I used a spot of glue on the lower tab inside of the hat to make sure it doesn't come apart. Set it aside to dry.
Next work on the crown as this will also need time to dry. I only used the oval and the crown from the image set since the other pieces are too small to cut at this size. Adhere the oval to the center of the crown. Then use Nuvo Morning Dew to accent the tips of the crown and the oval that will act as a jewel. Set it aside to dry.
For the Sentiment add some height. Using foam adhere the "Happy Birthday" to the pink scalloped oval. Then you will use foam dots to adhere the pink scalloped oval to the larger white scalloped oval.
Time to add the hearts. Using liquid glue, adhere the smaller pink heart to the back of the sentiment. You will place it slightly askew. After you will add two foam dots. To one of those foam dots you will adhere the second heart. Then you will add foam dot on the back of the heart and double up on the remaining foam dot that was not used.
Finally add on the crown by using liquid blue and gluing it down the upper left of the pink scalloped oval and set it aside. This adds a little bling to your project.
Cut 9" of medium cord. The hat has two notches in it where you will insert the ends of the cord from the inside outwards. Using a stapler you will attach the the elastic on the lower portion of the hat. This will be hidden in the next step.
Using pink crepe party streamer you will cut a length that goes around the hat three 4 times. Fold the streamer over several time until it is about 2" long (do not crease) and then cut it in half. This is a neat little hack that will leave you with two equal sides.
Time to glue the crepe down with a pleat. Use liquid glue to adhere in small sections all the way around. then add a small dot of glue under each pleat to hold it down on the hat. Don't worry if you have some of the glue showing through as it will dry and it will be covered up.
Using about 2-3 inches of crepe folded in half lengthwise, snip along the folded part to create a fringe. Roll the section up and add glue to the unfolded part. Attach this to the top of the hat while the glue is still wet (this will help it hold it's rolled up shape).
Using a hot glue gun adhere the Aqua Polka Dot Ribbon on the center of the crepe, all the way around. Once you finished you will add the sentiment to the front of the hat so that it is just over the crepe pleats.
Using the same Aqua Polka Dot Ribbon, create little a bow and hot glue it to the top of the hat. This will give it a final touch.
