Baby (noun): a little bit of heaven sent down to earth.

Welcome back everyone! I hope you haven't missed me too much.

Today Im sharing this simple but cute card.  today I am using the Mommy To Be stamp set from Craftin Desert Divas.  I also used the new Cloudy Sky Stencil.

One of things that I don't see enough of are baby shower stamp sets.  Even better are that these are so much fun too.

So this is what you will need to make this card:
  • A2 Card base
  • White cardstock 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
  • Mommy To Be stamp set
  • Cloudy Sky Stencil
  • Masking Paper
  • Tumbled Glass Distress Ink
  • Largest of the Fancy Frame Dies
  • Circle die from the Stitched In Circle Dies
  • 1/2" Foam Tape
  • Low tack washi tape
  • Nuvo Jewel Drops - Sea Breeze
  • Copic Markers
    • Stork Feathers:  C03, C06, C09
    • Stork Beak/Legs:  Y15, Y17
    • Baby Hair: R81, R83
    • Baby Skin: E000, E93
    • Baby Onsie: Y06
    • Baby Blanket: BG10, BG11
    • Clouds: B000

Now that you have everything you will need, let's begin.

Step 1: Making your Cloud Background.

Picture
First You will need to die cut your masking paper so that you have a perfect circle.  I used the Circle from the Stitched In Circle Dies from Craftin Desert Divas.  Overlay your masking paper on your white card stock.

Next you will overlay your stencil and blend in some tumbled glass. Once done you can remove your masking paper.

Step 2: Die cut your background.

Using the Fancy Frames Die set from Craftin Desert Divas, I cut out my background with the stitched in scalloped frame.  The largest of them.  This is perfect because it adds detail to the white space on the card.

Step 3: Work The Sentiment

For the sentiment, I went with the baby definition that was a part of the stamp set.   This was something that I thought would fit perfectly with my layout.  I simply stamped this out and then fussy cut around it.  I needed to create a break between the white of the background and my sentiment.  To do this I simply used my blending tool to add color to the edges of my sentiment.

Step 4:  Break up the White Space

I didn't just want my card to be completely white.  I wanted to draw out the blue from my background to the rest of the card as well.  To do this I blended the edges of my card base with the Distress ink.  I masked off the left side of my card so that I did not run over.

Step 5: Construction Under Way

Lets get building now that we have all our items ready to go.  This is the easy part of your card.
Use double sided foam tape across the back of your background.

Mount your background to the card base.  I lifted part of the tape backing to get it centered first.

Add 3D foam squares or circles to the back of your cut outs (Storke, sentiment, and two clouds.

** cut out five clouds.  I glued three down with tacky blue.  Then I adhered the items with dimentionals to give added height.
